6101 FIX is operated by RailBat Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. We are the data controller for the information described below.

6101 FIX is a service that lets passengers report rail-related issues by sending a WhatsApp message to +44 333 577 6101. This page explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what rights you have under UK GDPR.

What we collect

When you message 6101 FIX, we receive and process:

• Your WhatsApp phone number
• The text of your messages
• Any photos you choose to send (e.g. a fault, a ticket, an app screenshot)
• Your shared location, if you choose to send it
• Technical metadata from WhatsApp (message IDs, timestamps, language)
• The conversation state we hold while your report is in progress

We do not ask for your name, address, email, payment details, or any identity document. You decide what you tell us.

Why we use it (lawful basis)

We process your data under UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f) — legitimate interests: operating a passenger-facing fault reporting service, and sharing reports with the relevant rail operator so they can resolve the issue.

Where you send a photo or location, we treat that as your active choice to share it for the purpose of the report.

Who we share with

Reports (including photos and the relevant details of your message) are shared with the rail operator responsible for the service or station you are reporting about, so they can action the issue. We do not sell your data. We do not use it for marketing.

We rely on the following sub-processors to deliver the service:

• Meta Platforms Ireland — WhatsApp Business Platform (message delivery)
• Our hosting provider — secure storage of reports and images within the UK / EEA

How long we keep it

• Active reports: kept while the issue is being processed and for up to 12 months after resolution, to support operator follow-up and dispute resolution.
• Photos: deleted within 12 months of report resolution.
• Phone numbers blocked for abuse: retained for as long as the block applies, to enforce it.
• System logs: retained for up to 90 days, with phone numbers masked to the last four digits.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Ask for a copy of the data we hold about you
• Ask us to correct anything inaccurate
• Ask us to delete your data
• Object to processing, or ask us to restrict it
• Complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@6101fix.co.uk from the address linked to your request, or include your WhatsApp number in the message so we can find your records.

Children

6101 FIX is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has used the service, contact us and we will delete the data.

Security

Messages travel over WhatsApp's end-to-end encrypted transport. Reports and images are stored in a private bucket with access restricted to the 6101 FIX system and authorised RailBat Ltd staff.

We may update this page. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do.
